So my first class yesterday was Survey of Asian Art. My roommate took this class last quarter and hated it, and I actually got stuck in it, but I don’t think it’ll be too bad. I wasn’t a fan of my art history class last quarter, and I doubt this could be much worse, so I’m optimistic.
Had my second class this morning, which was my first ever SCAD drawing class. I’m kind of terrified of this course. I could have transferred credit if I submitted some portfolio pieces, but I figured I should take the SCAD version, because my community college drawing classes were a little bit lacking, and I’m an Illustration major, so I kind of need to be able to draw like a BAMF. After this morning, I’m glad I chose to do so. We’ll be doing perspective drawing (aka the bane of my existence) and that will be really good for me because I didn’t even do that in community college.
Anyway, my drawing prof seems really cool and intelligent. I think I’ll like his teaching style. Also he made the supply list SUPER affordable, which, after spending $300 on Color Theory supplies last quarter, earns him MAJOR brownie points. I’m stoked, because I know this will make me much better at drawing, but also nervous because I’m the only Illustration major, and I have to represent. *insert Illustration gang hand gesture here*
Annnnd then there’s my English class which is online. I’m already loving this class. I got all of my books in the mail and started reading them last night and they are right up my alley. Also, the professor really seems to know how to run an online course. It’s laid out perfectly (it even looks great) and everything is easy to access and all of the instructions are straightforward. Trust me, this is a wonderful thing. The online classes I’ve taken before have been kind of a pain in the ass, but this one seems like it’ll be great. The prof’s name is Kenneth Brandt, but I always picture Kenneth Branaugh and read all of the e-mails he sends us in a dramatic, English accent. I’m determined never to actually meet my prof in person, because then it would shatter this whole fantasy in my head, and I mean…who wouldn’t want Kenneth Branaugh as their English professor?!
